NDIS & YOU

The Federal Government has a new way of paying for interpreting services. This is called the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The NDIS is a way of providing support for people with a disability in Australia. It will be fully rolled out across Australia in 2019.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I access a NDIS Plan?

If you are Deaf, under 65 years old and living where NDIS is available, you may be able to access a NDIS Plan for your interpreting. To find out more, visit the My NDIS Access Checklist.

Can I use NICSS if I have a NDIS Plan?

NICSS is a registered service provider for the NDIS.  NICSS clients with a NDIS Plan can use their package for NICSS interpreting.

If you have a NDIS Plan that includes interpreting hours, please remember to tell us when you book an interpreter.

What will change when I contact NICSS?

The Contact Centre will continue to operate and bookings will be received and made for new and existing clients. You don't need a NDIS package to book a NICSS Interpreter.
