The Federal Government has a new way of paying for interpreting services. The new name is National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The NDIS is a way of providing support for people with a disability in Australia. It will be fully rolled out across Australia in 2019. Are you eligible? Click here to see current NDIS sites.
NABS & NICSS are holding a series of NDIS Workshops for the Deaf community at a variety of locations throughout Australia. For more information on where and when these workshops will take place, visit our NDIS Workshops page.
If you are Deaf, under 65 years old and living in a NDIS site, you may be able to access a NDIS Plan for your interpreting. To find out more, visit the My Access Checker.
NICSS is a registered service provider for the NDIS. NICSS clients with a NDIS Plan can use their package for NICSS interpreting.
If you have a NDIS Plan that includes interpreting hours, please remember to tell us when you book an Interpreter.
The Contact Centre will continue to operate and bookings will be received and made for new and existing clients. You don't need a NDIS package to book a NICSS Interpreter.
If you have further questions relating to NDIS and NICSS, please contact us:Phone: 1800 246 945
